The Eyesores are a California based band who have been playing under the name since late 1993. The current members are : Metalhed on bass and vocals, Dogface on drums, and some guitar, vocals, Only Greg (now also known as "Wasted") on guitar, Meister Brown on percussion, and Maddog on guitar. Other people who have been in the band are Stab on guitar, Puke on guitar, The Kid (also formerly of Aggro) on drums, King Gnu on drums, Ruk on drums and guitar. Some people who have worked with the band and weren't quite full time members are Chris F- guitars and keyboards, Chris H on guitar (some of the Phallus 2000 recordings), Garl (Ruk's brother) on bass, guitar and drums in the improv version of the Eyesores known as Beefstick. Overpaul from the band Jolt has jammed out a few times, and is on a few recordings, Chuck Dogg, formerly of the Irritations, and 647, and now with Downstroke, has played drums on a few songs live with the band. Other members of the band Crash Coarse, Skytzo and Jonas have also recorded or jammed (also from the Phallus 2000 recordings) with the band at times. I have also played songs that were either past or future Eyesores songs in the band the Idiot Parade, a band I played in from 96 to 98. If I left anyone out, let me know.
the Eyesores music is mostly punk rock in execution, meaning it is raw, loud, and often "offensive" to those who are easily offended. The reality is that most people enjoy a good doody or dick joke. It is NOT textbook punk rock, meaning every song is fast, bar or power chord guitar, and lyrics about "fuck you". Much of the music is slower, at odd tempos, and doesn't really fit into punk, metal, or "thrash", or any other categories. It sounds like a mess to most people. There is some acoustic material, some blues influenced material, and some regular hardcore punk rock in the set. In addition, most of the recordings are relatively low tech; either on 4 track analog equipment, and when higher tech equipment is available, the band uses the extra technology for the purpose of getting the band's basic sound on tape as opposed to cleaning it up, making it slick, and defanging it.
