Well, this was a cool show- Angry Samoans obviously were the big draw of the night, but the Piss Pops, MNR, and Wrecking Crew were no slouches either, not to mention Bondage Fairies (who unfortunately showed up late and got to play only 3 songs, one of them being a Runaways song, "Cherry Bomb", Fill in the Blanks (who played right before us and after Bondage Fairies), and Chaos.. (sorry they aren't on the flyer, but they were added last minute to the bill). The Bondage Fairies weren't the only band of the night with a short ass set- we got out 5 songs! Technically we got a late start, but our set time was originally 8:30, and with so many bands on the bill it got moved back to 8, thereby fucking us a little bit. However, we played all new songs (except for the Ramones cover), and left 'em wanting more, so it wasn't really anything bad. Also Bill V from the Samoans had remembered me from a show I played with them in another band (a previous lineup of Crash Coarse called Unit F), and mentioned the "Cum Fill'd Cows" as the band I was in! I had given them a CD of the Eyesores called "Cum Fill'd Cow" (mostly recorded Summer 96, and featuring Meister Brown, Stab and Metal, but "produced"/mixed by me; I also played guitar on two songs)- the main feature of which was two versions of Metalhed's favorite Eyesores song: Cum Fill'd Cow. One version with the real Cow lyrics (you can hear a more current version of the REAL Cum Fill'd Cow right HERE if you are curious, and you can also hear Metal's silly "eat my fucking ass" mindless swearing and spewing of vile profanities version HERE- it's labelled as "Cow", along with the long assed Mp3 title I put on it). Well, (keep in mind neither of these are the actual Cum Fill'd Cow Ep versions on that particular CD) apparently the Song/songs Cum Fill'd Cow 1 and 2 made quite an impression. Of course Angry Samoans kicked much ass, and were actually a different beast from the lineup you may have seen in the 80s or 90s- for one, Bill V takes the mike for a good portion of the set, with MEtal Mike playing his original instrument- drums. They did quite a few songs like this, Bill V did some singing behind the kit as well. Also the new guitarist (dont' remember the name, but he is from the Dickies, along with Rick Dasher on bass) did some of Todd's and Gregg's vocals on lots fo the songs. Cool show. The down side, is unfortunately someone got shot about 200 feet away from the club. Jonas and I were out by the van between bands sets, enjoying a "soda", and heard about 6 or 7 pops- that's the amount it sounded like to me anyway. This was further up Woodruff near what looked like an apartment complex. Well, within a few minutes, fire engines, cops, police helicopters, and other such emergency stuff was blocking the whole street off. Pretty fucked up. Anyway, it was a good set for us, being as short as it was.
Well, have fun! (RT 12 pm may 22, 2005)
