don't forget to check out the KFJC version of "Eyedoll" on Garageband.com!

you can hear three Eyesores songs frrom KFJC and one song from Ralph's Weiners , and the pictures from last weekend on Cryspace

First of all- there are new pictures just waiting to be uploaded, they're on their way.

So Meister Brown arrives at the hotel in Anaheim, and so I (Dog) went over to Sugars (played that night with another band) and we get a couple of brews and check out the set. Find out that Metal and Fist are coming into town about 12 hours earlier, so I meet up with them at an AMPM. I lead them to a hotel about half a mile from my pad, drive home to park my truck, then walk back and have some beers. At about 6am, realized it was time to call it a night. Also, Fist got a new guitar, and what else but an Epiphone - now we got the triple Epiphone attack. Actually Metal's Epi has been missing in action due to injury sustained on the playing field lately.

So after a few hours of sleep, everyone, along with wives and girlfriends, meets up and we go down to the Block in anaheim. Much hilarity ensues when Metal passes out flyers to people. A couple of us were coming out the jon and noticed two security people standing conspicuously outside the bathroom corridor (it's a 75 or so foot corridor containing the mens and women's rooms). I remark to Meister Brown that "maybe they're waiting there for us". We decide to plow ahead as if they weren't there, and hear behind us Metal being admonished for passing out punk rock flyers. Punk rock flyers for a free show apparently equals soliciting, but it's ok for touts to yell out as you walk by, "Hey dog you want a new cellphone" ("dog" as in "dude", not as in the Eyesores guitar player). Stupid.

so we end up getting the gear together, meet back up at the venue and get some beers going. We're first up so we make the mistake of waiting to play. One of the bands cancelled, so we figure we can relax. The set actually went smooth, and we started off with "don't gimme the rodent" in honor of the Mouse House nearby. Much hilarity ensued after my amp shorted out the power outlet and stopped working. Apparently after I'd set the drums up (meister brown couldn't really take his drums on the plane), I'd forgotten to tighten the leg (there's one missing too) and the bass drum was sliding around, so Meister moved my guitar/pa head in front of the bass drum and something weird happened to it.

I wandered around the stage looking for a solution while Metal filled the dead air with hot air. Vinny Malachi offered me the use of his amp, so while I got that going, the rest of the band did "the Hawk" and "Fistful Of fun", which I came in on about 1/2 way through. We'd lost a little momentum, partially because a weird echo got on the guitar, but found the energy again when we were signaled "2 more". So I just got the bass, we did "Cow" with extra philthy insults, and Clean and Full featuring bonus harmonica, candy giveaway, squeek toy, etc. It was cool, and nobody seemed to walk out while we played! I got to play another short set with Dick Politic right after the Eyesores, then kicked back with a Newcastle to watch Apathetic Youth. Took some pictures too!

So we all went back to the nearby hotel room- Meister, Fist, Metal, Dog, Rebecca, plus Vinny Malachi and Steve. There was a lot of beer, and most of it was consumed. I busted a string on my portable 3/4 scale acoustic while playing the Band and Neil Young songs. At one point, hotel security came by to inform the renters of the hotel room that there had been noise complaints, and that punk rockers had been observed entering the premises. So after some admonishments to whisper we continued to party it up. At some point people went to sleep. Next morning, Fist and Metal drove back to SJ, and so Meister, Rebecca, myself, and my wife went and got some chow. They flew out later in the day. I went to a superbowl party and jammed out with DP, Vinny, and members of Malachi Bros, and Krax. Took it easy on the reebs because of serious partyage the previous nights taking it's toll.

So there you have it. Looking forward to playing Rasputin's next week. DG
