Unfortunately Meister Brown couldn't make it to this particular show, but next time.... First of all Metal got into town, so we all hung for a little (my wife, myself, and Metal), got some food, and then met up with Eyesore Vinny at the Inazuma/Bondage Fairies/Kill Kitty Kill/Martyr's Rose show- had a good time checking out some killer punk rock- all the bands rocked! Then as the evening drew to a close, Metal and I (dog) downed a bunch of beers by the creek and played some acoustic. Next day we had to go to the bank (fucking money traps) then to practice. Eyesore Vinny knows his shit as always, despite the pressure this time of being solo guitarist and comes through. So we end up later showing up at the club to discover that the Daisy Pushers are the only other scheduled band on the flyer to be there, and the other band (only 3 tonight) is in fact the legendary Wastey Face (a band that Vinny and I played on the bill with in Dick Politic and Crashcoarse) while they were minus their ship's wheel this time, they still delivered the speedy guitar powered punk rock. Daisy Pushers played some really cool trippy minor key rockabillyish tunes with lots of style- pretty damn good and also very different from your typical OC punkabilly band- they knew when to bring the groove lower when it needed to be done, and the bass was more jazz-like instead of thumpity thumpity standup bass (which I like a lot of the time, but has become almost a cliche). It was a good show, and we all had a good time even despite the lineup changes. So later on we swigged some brews, and the next day Metal headed back to SJ. Overall very kick ass and fun. Would have liked to see Disaster Zone and Mass Terror... but there's always another gig!!!!
