THE EYESORES playing Sept. 28
Gilman St Project
not pictured on the flyer, but played first: Anger As A Gift (who kicked ass)
here's what happened- I had originally had the Sat. booked with Dick Politic in Vegas and wasn't sure if I could make the Sunday show at Gilman with the Eyesores. I set it up and hoped for the best. Then I realized, fuck it, how often do I get to go driving off through the fuckin' desert at $4.50 per gallon? (thanks a whole lot, Mr. Bush!!) So Sat. night i drove out to Vegas, got there at about 12:15 am on Sunday morning/sat night, then played a set with Dick Politic in which I probably dropped 12 drumsticks straight.. no bull shit. People seemed to enjoy it though. So after the set, I hung out, checked out Alcoholic Heroes, Riotgun, then partied with Forbidden Zone, CNHH, and innumerable other people. I decided to swig lots of water just in case, as I had had my 2 beers during the set and didn't want to take any chances. Then I went charging out towards Berkeley. Listened to a lot of music. This was about 4am. Got into Berekeley at about 12:30 pm. Stopped by the club, slept a little, then realized that Coreye had arrived with Pauly in the van. Cristin (the promoter) showed up with BBQ and food, which was awesome. Then Meister Brown and Dave Laroxx showed up, finally Metal, his girl Blondina, and Pat Smith (formerly of Toowamp and Dream Fire) showed up. All the bands were kick ass, including a band who'd been added to the beginning of the set- Anger as a Gift (who kicked ass but weren't on the flyer as they'd been added to the bill last minute). Finally we played, and though I had some technickable difficulties, we still had a goood time and rocked out. WE all ended up at Dave's pad, drank some beer. then the next day I drove back, not too hung over as I'd paced my beer drinkin, slept well, and ate some curry ramen (courtesy of Dave Laroxx). It was a good time! Dog- Oct. 2, 2008
