THE BOTTOM ADVENTURES

The Lido, San Jose March 13, 2001

Well, I don't get to update the page too much, but then again maybe I'm too fuckin lazy. Oh well. Anyway, the show was run a bit differently than usual- they had three DJs spinning killer tunes- lots of cool obscure punk rock (emphasis on COOL- I didn't hear one really LAME tune at all), with some 80s hard rock. Most of it was from the 70s and 80s. I'm sure there's just as much killer music from the 90s though. But it won't be considered "cool" until people my age start writing for music publications. When I was a little kid, anything made from between 1955 and 1958 was considered great (this was the 70s), then the sanctimony hardend around the 60s. It's been further bastardized into the 70s and 80s nostalgia, which leads to weird shit like a 70s disco leisure suit guy with a 60s tie dye job, a 60s style "peace sign", and disco dancing to 80s music. Very confusing. Anyway, the DJs were great, and this actually kept the crowd in the club and drinking. Nag went on, and played some crazy, almost English style punk rock, with a really hot bass player (yes, she's female... what did you think I meant, you sicko?). Then by 12 or so, we went on, and blasted through our set. We played some new song I had never heard before, but I followed along, and didn't seem to detract from it. Also, Devious SHOWED UP and actually rapped a bit for us! As usual, people liked it. I think we should at some point, put our egos in the bag, and put together a Devious solo album. The cops didn't come, and the show went off killer; I'd say it was a success. Oh yeah, we played One Sip, which I've never played on drums before. One Sip Throw Away used to be one of my lead vocals. Then during a time when I fired myself from the band, they mysteriously shortened it by one verse. Anyway, we've got some more shows on the drawing board for the future. My other band Codename Hardhat will be playing the Shack in Anaheim on March 30th, 2001. Follow the link, click, drink, and think.
