However, the Irritations and OPM did in fact play at Cherps in ... I think Fontana on Friday April 11. Opm went first (OPM is Bert from Black Dragon and the original Special Guests lineup) , and the covers (Flag, Jerks, Kennedys, and of course "Big Balls" by AC/DC) got people amped up. It was a cool show. Then the Irritations played. Chuck was there (the old drummer), and played a few songs with the band. Scott (bass) at one point, had to take a leak, so he handed the bass off to Jonas. He came back after pissing halfway through the song and demanded the bass back! What a card! The show was a little rough, but sometimes a rough show is needed. WE went back.. and then I picked Metalhed up. He, his sister, and our old friend Rob (who used to party with us back in the old Liquorstore Dogs days in 95) had come down and were staying at a hotel. I picked Metal up, then we went back. the next day, we got up, went out to Corona, and recorded a practice. Practice went well. We all ended up at Anarchy Library, and found that in fact, it was us and Intestinal Discharge, a death metal band. A friend of Metal's, Stephanie was there to check out the show, and shot some photos. The show went well, and we ran into the original drummer from the Spooky. It ended up being a long night as usual. The show went very well, and Greg even busted out with The Cat's Meow, despite his not really liking the song. He did a good job on it though. The next night was Crash Coarse with It's Casual. It's Casual's drummer's other band was there, I don't remember their name, but they sounded like Cheap Trick and were good. It's Casual were good as well. During Crash Coarses' set, Daryl's high tech guitar gizmos gave out, and he tossed his amp head onto the floor with a battle cry of, "Fuck this modern piece of shit". Fortunately, the It's Casual guys were around to loan a Marshall head. The club was nearly empty and there were numerous mistakes, but one dude hung around and told us how much he'd liked it. Three nights- four sets, four different bands. Not bad.
dig it- Ten goddamn years of VIETNUN- a band that led to the formation of not only the Eyesores but also GPR and "deal."(sic). If I feel like it, I'll put up some more Vietnun crap, but for now, look here for a band photo and a "review" of one of our performances, a sorority sister talent show at Santa Clara University in Feb. of 1993.
our positive effect on Santa Clara University
addendum to the flyer- we're playing with the Red Onions. - sorry, it's not free but it's only $4
